The Wind Phone, This film is the work of director Nobuhiro Suwa, starring Serena Motola, Hidetoshi Nishijima, and Tomokazu Miura.
This film is motivated by real events. In 2011, Itaru Sasaki placed a white telephone booth in a park and placed a black telephone in a booth that was not connected to any wires. He did this because he wanted to talk to his late cousin who died in 2010. The telephone was black and the outlet became known as “Kaze no Denwa” (“Wind’s Telephone”). After the Tohoku earthquake and tsunami that occurred in 2011, thousands of people went there to mourn their families and relatives who had died in the earthquake and tsunami disaster.
Inspired by true events in Japan Haru who moved to Hiroshima in southern Japan came past a rogue telephone booth in the middle of where he returned to Iwate in northern Japan. The disconnected phone at the white booth was driven by superstition that it was a direct line to the dead. He and some of the local people communicated and they shared their stories and different countries believed about the preventive booth.
